My name is Aryk Shalhoub. I’m a writer and painter based in Boston, Massachusetts.
I attended the Massachusetts College of Art, where I studied painting for the majority of my time there.
During a trip abroad to Ireland, I fell in love with writing; it was there that my first few books were formulated and planned. Though I never lost my obsession with oil painting, I shifted my focus to writing.
The two are very similar in a way for me, writing has its own process that feels like painting a picture, as imagery comes together. Painting builds its own narratives and is in itself a way of storytelling.
In my work, I delve into the human conditions of faith, fear, and mortality. Often working in both mediums to evoke an emotional existential response.
